I think 4-5 dollar per gallon will be the greatest thing to happen to the US. It will drive the Green market, it will drive alternative fuels, it will drive technological advancement.

Well I'm against the idea of going to war with Iran, but I think it's more in their hands than ours.

I don't know if it'll happen "soon" though.

My guess is Iran will continue towards "peaceful" nuclear technology. Eventually they'll shut down the reactor to extract fuel, not send fuel back to Russia, or will kick out inspectors under some guise or other.

Now depending on the US president we might just sit back Korea style.

But Isrealis like that whole "living" thing and so I'm pretty sure they'll do whatever it takes to stop Iran from getting to bomb, Iran probably won't just take having their stuff bombed sitting down and will attack back, then the US gets pulled in.

Alternative extra bad scenario. Iran continues to buy Russian air defense systems. Our president does nothing when Iran makes its move for the bomb, and Israel fails to take out the required targets with their first conventional strike. Now, actively at war with an Iran that is about to go nuclear, Israel decides to nuke Iran first.

World holds its breath to see what Russia and Pakistan do.

i really .... dislike iran.
they sponsor terrorism.
they give weapons to insurgents fighting the US in iraq.
the country is run by religious zealots.
and they openly say they want israel to be destroyed, and israel is one of our best friends.
and then there's the nuke thing.
i would love to attack iran.
but we should at least talk to them first. reopen diplomatic relations and try and be friends. try and work things out.
and if that doesn't work .... then we attack them.

i don't think it will happen soon, because Bush already has his hands full with iraq, and none of the candidates want anything to do with another war in the middle east.
unless iran attacks israel, there's not likely to be a war.

iran is escalating their support for terrorism against our and NATO troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. They just made another aggressive "attack" against one of our ships, for like the 3rd or 4th time recently.

iran will start this war. They will get caught killing our people red-handed and it will be on. Their end is very, very near.

Who's Bush gonna send to fight them? the Boy Scouts? and who's money is he going to use this time? our great grandchildren?

If he wants to start a new war, then he'd better fund it by trimming his bloated government and raising taxes. Deficit spending is highly immoral.

As I said, Iran will start the war, already has. They are already engaging us. But, we have plenty of force to deal with it, just requires shifting some troops around. But, it will start with a massive, targeted bombing campaign lasting somewhere between 1 and 8 weeks. In fact, that alone would probably do the trick of teaching a severe lesson and weakening iran enough to knock them back in their proper place.
