It depends for me. If I think the server is new and the service sucks because of reasonable problems with bieing new, I'll give a small tip.
But when people really ignore the table or refuse to handle problems (it's not so much about whether it's solved, but whether the server tries... Bad service that isn't the server's fault just makes me not go back), I'll leave no tip.

current min wage in uk is about $11 an hour this does not exclude people who may earn tips.

So a person of 22yrs washing dishes will earn about $440. a week there tax deduction would be about $46. a week, there National Insurance deduction would be $26. dollars a week, that pays for all health requirements, prescriptions are $11, but free to pensioners and the unemployed, dentists there is a small charge, but free to pensioners and the unemployed, it also pays for your state retirement pension, and for social benefits say if you loose your job.

$440 a week is classed as a low wage if the person was married and had two kids and it was the sole income he would recieve additional payments from the government.

what hours does your daughter work, and at what time of day, also which days in the week, also what is her actual wage from the restuarant, I would guess between $2.5 to $3.00 an hr that to me is slave labour

Because she is good at her job the customers pay's to eat then tips and pays 70% of her wages? dont you feel she is being exploited I do

for around here that's pretty good , our society is different here we tip , it's been that way since I can remember , Doesn't it cost more to live in THE UK?
I do not feel she's exploited , she's an Adult so she makes her own choices, what she is exploited by is she has 2 college degrees and works in a restaurant because the pay is better and they will work around the hours she works due to daycare and her jerkface oops I mean boyfriend hours

Yes the cost of petrol is about $10 a gallon, cigs are about $11 a pack of 20, food well it depends on where you are in America, but free healthcare for all makes up for that.
Two degree's and she works in a restuarant, why is that?

It's not really a subsidy. The alternative is they pay full wages and charge higher prices. It works out the same in the end -- you're paying for it one way or the other -- and this way the servers have an incentive to provide good service.

Right. Mr. Beck didn't take Econ 101. If you paid restaurant workers more, prices would rise and you'd end up paying anyway. The major difference is that service would be far worse. It would be just enough to avoid being fired.
