Well, the people who would make "stupid votes" would not vote at all. I would put all my money on the fact that no 16 year olds would get off their asses to vote unless they were either forced to, or felt strongly about something. Or if their parents used them as tools to get more votes for their candidate.

I agree with Makedde that it would have to be option from 16-18 for it to work.

Its dumb to allow some one who has been a bad part of society to have the same rights as those who have been good. Those who have been bad need to be punished, and being excluded from the society they have hurt is part of that. Thats why they are put in cells in a building enclosed by walls and guards.
We were talking about prisoners?

Not inmates.
But I think ex-cons should be allowed to vote. It's ridiculous that they serve their time and then are still treated as secondary citizens.

You should have to take a test before you can vote. Poor voting can be more dangerous than poor driving :-/

And having the elites or some bureaucracy decide who is qualified to vote is far more dangerous than poor voting.
Really... Who is going to decide what's in these tests or what grade is appropriate?
If someone trusts anyone with that, then I'd reckon they would need to be included as one of the people ineligible for voting (there's a paradox for ya).

To vote you should have to take a test, and I will pick the two questions.

1. Name the three branches of government
2. Does the president have the power to create law?

Simple enough, to keep out the people that really have no idea what they are voting for and simple enough to allow most of the dumb masses to get into the booth.

My honest opinion is that no one should be allowed to vote for the President, we should elect local representatives who would vote on the presidency, that would end the presidential popularity contest and get people focused on the representatives who trully have the most impact on their lives.

Lastly, voting isn't a right. It's a priveledge. There is no constitutional right to vote in federal elects so cons aren't being stripped of their 'rights' just having their priveledges taken away because they couldn't handle being a first class citizen in our country and to be quite frank, if you can't manage to keep yourself from committing federal crimes, I'm not really sure your opinion is worth hearing.
