that's obvious that iran and israel have serious issues. many think that it's just a matter of time before the war of these two nations. when do you think this is going to happen?

It depends on who gets elected, If Isreal thinks the president that gets elected is weak then they will attack sooner than later, on the other hand if the think the elected president is strong then they will hold off. It really doesn't matter Iran has been attacking Isreal with its proxy army for years anyway.

If McCain wins, they will hold off, because the USA will still be her ally.

An attack on Iran, by either Israel or the United States, would be a disaster.

1) Iran will shut down the Straits of Hormuz. Only takes a few sunken tankers to do that. Watch the price of gas shoot to over ten bucks a gallon, almost immediately.

2) Iran has new cruise missiles that can easily evade ships' countermeasures, thanks to the Russians who supplied them to Iran. We would lose at the very least one aircraft carrier group, and probably more.

3) The base at Diego Garcia would be destroyed.

4) The Shia groups in Iraq would end their truce, and carry out a full scale war. As a result troop deaths would skyrocket back to the numbers we saw before the Sadrist truce last August, and no telling when that would end.

5) The only effective retaliation would be with nuclear weapons, but the fallout from that would be in Pakistan, and also in China. That would begin yet another conflagration. WWIII might even be triggered as a result. And using nuclear weapons would certainly trigger, at the very least, another oil embargo, like we had in 1974. That, coupled with no oil leaving the Straits of Hormuz, would cripple us in a way that we cannot even begin to imagine.

This is not Iraq we are dealing with, with a third rate military that was crippled through sanctions. Iran's military, while not being able to beat us, could nevertheless show us why Sherman said "War is hell".

The people in power, who are pushing for a war with Iran are crazy. As a matter of fact, it was Bush's own father who called the Neocons "The crazies in the basement".

i think israel remembers the trouble it had in lebanon a couple years ago.
they arent in any hurry to start an even larger conflict.
of course thats not to say they wont try and get the US to attack iran.
im sure they like having 130,000 US troops in the neighborhood.
i would like to think that it wouldnt have to come to anyone attacking iran.
but if it does,
israel will let the US do it.
