By "America", I assume what you mean is the US government. The average citizen really has no say in what "America" does. And it is hard to judge America. In one sense, it is so good that it belongs in it's own category, judged by a higher standard. But on the other hand, it fails miserably when judged by that standard. Americans DO expect that our rights as we see them are upheld by the government. That's the higher standard. But then our government goes and hires a bunch of ski-masked men for our cities, with the highest-tech crowd dispersal technology on Earth. There are many other examples that could be listed when America has let us down. Generally we are disappointed because we (rightly) expect more from America.
