It is not a slight on you. This is why all polls are flawed. Because it is necessary to give over-simplified options in order to make the poll work.

No I think the role of goverment is spelled out for us perfectly in the constitution. I simply wanted to hear the views of others. I want to see who actually knows what the roll of goverment is as opposed to thoes who makes their judgements off of what they think the goverment should be. You know. The ones that believe the constitution guarentees life, liberty, and the guarentee of happyness. Of course you know Im probale going to label someone a socialist in this thread. So I can see why liberals are reluctent to vote here. Most liberals want universal healthcare. However taking money from one man to pay for the mistakes or misfortune of another is unconstitutional!

Thomas Jefferson once said that the federal government has only three roles: 1) provide for the common defense, 2) deliver the mail, and 3) raise taxes for the first two.

Sums it up for me!

I voted for all the options, because I feel a Government should be doing all this.

Defend Its People + Defend Its Allies and Interests
IMO are the same things.

So I voted for the latter as it pretty much covers the former.
