Yes, but what's wrong with trying to set up situations in which nations can be in a win-win situation. It can be harder sometimes, but thats where you get into lazy foreign policy of just demonizing anything and anybody different from your own country.

And I also pledge allegiance to the human race. It seems like at times we pledge allegiance to the concepts of selfishness, fear and greed when it comes to foreign policy. Why is that so?

Yeah, this is general and opinionated. But so is what it means to "pledge allegiance."

I meant to click the "independent" option rather than "conservative."

Nonetheless, I agree with the above poster. Check my sig, if you want to know what I think. The section in bold.

I put conservative (not to be confused with republican) and I side with my country on most issues, but it should also be noted that I hold my own country to a much higher standard than others and my criticism is much more sharp against my own country.

If a country's policy contradicts itself with just about every other election, how can one person possibly always believe that what their country does is always right?

Those without principles will find themselves with nothing else as well.

I'm liberal and I side with my country.
That doesn't mean I always agree with my country or think it's always right.
What I mean is that I hope for the best for my country and frame foreign policy ideology in that context. When the country is doing the wrong thing, I oppose that strategy- because I side with the country and want it to do what's right!
But I would never side with an entity out to destroy my country, even if I think we should change our own strategy in dealing with said entity.
Overall I do think that mutual good can be done for the US and the world and I think those are usually the best long term strategies.

Don't know if that fits.. but if it doesn't it doesn't fit any option given.
