While I imagine that the majority of participants are American, I have noticed that a fair number appear to reside in Great Britian and Australia. I, for one, gladly welcome their thoughts and opinion! To those whose first langauge is NOT English, I admire your effort in adding to the discussion!

Yep. But nonAmerican posters are free to come here. We've got some Russians, some Albanians, an Iranian. Plus quite a few English speakers from UK, Australia and the like.

The fact English is the only available language makes it biased toward English speaking countries. Most would probably prefer to debate in their native tongue.

They might, but as a practical matter we can't allow that. Our moderators are all native English speakers, and they can't moderate what they can't read. If we had enough bilingual mods, we might be able to allow debates in specific languages that they know. But as a general policy, the board has to be English-only.

Oh, I understand that. Even if it did allow posts in other languages, let's say Chinese, each thread would still have a bias. The threads in English would be biased toward native English speakers and the threads in Chinese would be biased toward native Chinese speakers. As it is now, speakers of other languages have their own boards to debate on.

So, I do not have any intention to fault the board for a language bias. The only practical I can see way around this is to invent software that automatically translates to the posters chosen language, but even then it would be difficult to clearly communicate with speakers of other languages.
