That would really only help the country if Obama dropped dead on his first day of office. The VP doesn't DO anything really, and has no effect on the president's policy.

To some extent, but the price of gasoline is more greatly affected by sharp increases in consumption. Only about 35% of US gasoline comes from middle eastern oil. So it does have an effect, but lets get real, that areas was unstable long before we got there.

Nope. I think we've been over that more than enough times. Fact of the matter is, we wouldn't go to war without the president (any president as CIC) directing that choice. IOW, clearly, that leadership has affected our economy.

Yeah, I agree, it was unstable, but we destabilized it further and knocked a producer into the consumer category and pressured other countries to boost their production. No matter how you cut the cake, our policy has increased the cost of oil, which is certainly affecting our economy.

I used to think that the president couldn't really affect the economy that much, but George W. Bush changed my mind. I think those two examples are pretty straight-forward.

Indeed sir, but i thought I mentioned at some point in this thread that 'the economy' is such a broad topic that you could say that anyone could have 'some' effect on it.

No war has ever been fought without the Pres obviously since he's the head of all armed forces. However, I'd submit the housing bubble, and the defecit weigh in more heavily in regards to current economic situation, but since this isn't really measurable, neither of us we'll be able to prove it one way or the other.


There really isn't anyway to draw a direct correlation between our actions there versus the increases in global demand, so I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree.

Didn't realize this had any bearing on how they voted. Furthermore, increased demand and rampant speculation are unrelated to our actions in the ME, but relate directly to the price of gas.
