What a new and interesting thread topic. Why hasn't anyone thought of this before?

Impeaching a president simply because people don't like what he does is not only wrong, it is illegal.

Bush has not committed an impeachable offense.

The best con, though, was the last congressional election. Pelosi and her ilk all promised an impeachment and then promptly yanked it off the table as soon as they were elected. They knew there were no grounds for impeachment, but they also knew they could sucker the hate-filled liberals by having them salivate over the notion of impeachment.

Impeachment and criminal charges sound about right to me.

Since people claim there are criminal charges I can see the need for a trial. Let that trial decide if there will be criminal charges.
At this point, that could not be done before the end of his tenure, so impeachment would be utterly pointless. It would make sense if he were convicted of something already.

Claims of criminal misconduct aren't enough. You have to have something called evidence and culpability. For instance, when Clinton lied to the courts, that was a proven criminal act. He knowingly and purposefully lied under oath to the courts and then knowingly tried to cover that lie. If the democrats actually had this kind of evidence on Bush, they would have impeached him already.

Not for impeachment... but that is generally what leads to a criminal trial. It's the courts' job to figure out if there's enough evidence. They can't decide that there is no evidence before even having a hearing.
