While I do see where you are coming from.. I think we will be annhilated by and extraterrestrial race. Mainly for the same reasons that you listed, we are too warlike and too selfish and too emotionally charged.
Consider that there are galaxies billions of years older than ours... Consider that by the most conservatives estimates, most alien species that could possibly be in existance would be (at a minimum) 10,000 years ahead of us.... Consider our meteoric rise in technological capabilities since about mid-WWII.... Consider how most of that technology is either created or used...
Piece all those considerations together and it is easy to see a scenario where we achieved interstellar travel abilities well before we are culturally ready for such a power. It is also easy to assume one or some of those races in question will not look highly on a violent and petty race that spreads virulently.
My own personal "doomsday" scenerio is that we achieve the stars and get exterminated by an alien race that fears us...
