Another day, after she heard my dad had remarried, she broke down when she discovered she was entitled to NONE of his work pension, and only HALF of the social security survivor benefit she would normally get when he died. She had to go to work for $1 with her college degree, and worked for that wage at a big employer that ripped her off for 5 years before an Equal Opportunity rule got her and some fellow women employees a raise.

Yeah, so maybe I am A flag bearer for women sometimes, in part because it seems men are often vicious when a woman speaks up, and I think it is good some good and kind people feel they are not alone in the society, and get some affirmation that they are getting the shaft from people who would like the abuse to continue for their own selfish benefit.

It seems that the Republican/conservative men are the ones that always want to attack women, their rights, their benefits. It's amazing how Republican women are not able to see it and continue to vote for these buffoons, so they can give them the shaft. If not them, their daughters and granddaughters. Talk about ignorance.

Republican women - if you insist on speaking in generality - don't see what you see because they have identified what is true, and you haven't. These women know the difference between a right and a privilege, and also understand the notion that insurance companies should be free to offer services as they see fit to respond to demand; they understand that private institutions should be allowed to represent services actions and beliefs which align with the ideology representative of their mission statement, and they also understand when someone is politicizing an issue to attempt to forward a decidedly unappetizing agenda.

If not them, their daughters and granddaughters. Talk about ignorance.

Our mothers have been behaving like sluts.
The culture almost requires girls to be sexual active since marriage has been intentionally delay by various means until age 26.

This, in effect, means young people at the height of their hormonal drive for the natural act of sex are asked to be careful for 14 years, from age 12 to 26.
They might as well be told to become nuns and priests.
At least if they were to actually not be sexually active for those 14 years they would have a certificate from the ministry.


But, idiot adults have forgotten that the Institution of Matrimony was INVENTEZD as a socially acceptable way for young people to engage in sex if they could not wait.
Now they are left to playing with fire absent any social mechanism to prevent Welfare, Abortion, STD, and tragedy.

And indeed, child support and alimony was very much based in part on whose "fault" was the marriage breakup!

My mother got NO alimony, and she was working for minimum wage, $1 per hour IMMEDIATELY when my father bailed because, of course, since he planned it, he took most of the money.

NOW the whole idea that women couldn't have bank accounts is a flat out lie, there have been women working since the time this country was founded...do ya REALLY think that Amelia Earnhart didn't have a bank account? do you really think that the vast number of women that owned businesses didn't have bank accounts? women owned farms....heck I have a book that records the adventures of mail order brides that talks about the sharing of information regarding inheritance and bank account balances and this was in the mid 1800s...I KNOW you aren't that old!

this whole concept that women were hapless slaves, chained to a kitchen stove barefoot and pregnant until the Lesbians (and sons with a chip on their shoulder cause their dads ran off and left them) stormed the tower and rescued them is really tooo silly for words. your mother's choices were her own, give her the DIGNITY of accepting she was a human being that had a brain, that made her own choices in life. It may not have worked out for her but they were HER decisions, not yours.

You claim all these Conservative men want to do this and want to do that....how is it any different from you telling me to do this or do that? You don't really want women to have a choice or you would ACCEPT ours. and it is interesting that these 'women' who sleep around, get pregnant and want the government to support them invariabley have SOME male living in the house with them. If you watch, it is extremely rare to see a welfare momma that doesn't have some scummy male leeching off her welfare payments. We have taught an entire generation that the government will pay your living expenses if you don't get married, so they don't get married. Why should they when the government actively encourages them NOT to?
