Thread: Do you think dancing is degeneracy?

When I think about it and compare for example the ancient Samurai and their Bushido code, the way of the warrior, to modern day society I.E partying and dancing I feel like vomiting.

Isn't dancing just a degenerate way to sell off your body, what is the essence of dancing, what is the purpose? Just think about it, what is the purpose of dancing? Why does it appear so primitive to me! It's because I compare Plato's society with modern society which is disgusting, the same pop dancing culture that will film people dying or fighting on their cameras rather than intervening and trying to save their lives.

Do you think dancing is primitive and what's the soul purpose of it? Please don't say dancing is for "entertainment" because there are other and more 'civilized' ways to "entertain" yourself... Why are most pop party culture dancing people primitive? All they do is dance, get drunk, take drugs and have sex with their own gender because they want to experiment.

Ballet, Flamenco, rythym gymnastics, Hula, Folkorico, Odori... you think these are useless and primitive? Dancing is art and physical aptitude. Dancing is not just about entertainment in fact that is a small facet of what inspires people to dance... unless you are one that just watches.. it is about physical expression and participation, it is healthy and theraputic. It can be corrupted into pure entertainment for others like the crotch grabbing pop artists, or strippers and the like.

You are judging a beautiful and healthy art form as denouncing it simply because you do not like it. What you think may be true from your perspective .. but that is hardly a general consensus.

I'm not referring to Ballet, Flamenco, rythym gymnastics, Hula, Folkorico, Odori or high class dance performances, I'm referring to the more common and typical style of dances I.E what you experience at nightclubs.

To be honest when I think of people dancing in the old days I don't think of degeneracy because in those days dancing implied something and was totally natural but these days most people who dance are bi sexual, stupid, alcoholics, smokers, drugatics and primitive for a reason, why?

Drawing or thinking of ideas is an art, not dancing.

People can't really dance to classical or movie theme music, the "dancing" to classical or movie OST is actually imagining things in your mind.

I understand, but again your example is an ancient dance with a good purpose, to connect the present with the past (heritage). On the other hand this question is directed towards the nightclub partying pop culture, maybe I should rephrase the title of this thread into "Modern" dancing so people don't get confused.

Dancing is degeneracy only if done really well.

It is like sex that way.
