My Fellow American,

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Daniel Friedman, and I am currently a college student living in New York. As I reflect on the current situation in our country, I am appalled by the absence of true leadership in this nation. Our leaders are misleading us, the people of this Great Nation, with lies and half-truths about the issues which impact us as a people, and as a nation. As I see it, the leaders of our nation are covering up the truth, and it would be un-American of me to stand idly by, and watch the destruction of our great nation, while corporate interests and campaign donors get rich over the backs of the hard-working Middle Class that I know simply as Americans. Middle America is what makes our country great. It is the backbone of our economy, and the focal point of our country. It is the blue collar, simple, working Americans that ought to be idolized in this nation, for it is they that make our country work.
I know that America is the greatest nation in the world. I know that America is also the wealthiest in the world. We are the wealthiest country in the world, yet 5.6% of us are unemployed. We are the wealthiest country in the world, yet there are 40 million Americans without proper health care. We are the wealthiest country in the world, yet we cannot afford to raise the salaries of our teachers, which are trusted with perhaps the most important job of all- to educate our next generation. We are the wealthiest country in the world, yet our leaders have decided to cut funding for our First Responders- the firefighters and police officers who make sure our neighborhoods are safe and secure. We are the wealthiest country in the world, yet in addition to cutting the number of First Responders, our leaders have watched the levels of crime rise dramatically, and today America has the highest murder rate of any other country in the world. We are the wealthiest country in the world, yet we have thousands upon thousands of Americans that are homeless today, as a result of the White house abandoning those who cannot help themselves and fighting to give 2.3 trillion dollars (2,300,000,000,000.00!) to the wealthiest among us.
As I have said, I cannot stand idly by and watch in disgust as this abuse of power continues. With both our foreign policy and domestic policy in ruins, we must rise up- together- as Americans always have- and in the spirit of our Great Democracy send a clear message to our leaders that we will no longer tolerate their abandonment of true American ideals.
That is why I have taken it upon myself to begin the publication of "The American Perspective". This is a small online newsletter that I will write once every two weeks, and send out to all those who are interested in learning the truth about the State of Our Union. I ask you to join me today- join me to create an awareness of the truth in this country, by signing up to receive "The American Perspective." I believe that no American should be denied the truth about the state of our nations affairs, and I want to create an awareness in our nation of the great abuses and usurpations of our leaders.
