The fact that Turkey has been able to woo Azeri and our Georgian leadership housing on our territories Kurds and Turks-Meskhatins, shows us that Turkey politicly manipulates with the authorities of both states, playing to our common ambition for becoming political centers in the South Caucasus. And now both Azerbaijan and our Georgia are ready to sacrifice their stability for receiving Ankara’s goodwill.
But if for Azerbaijan (whose leader is Kurd by nationality) taking up residence for wealthy Kurds from Turkey turns into individual self-interest for Aliev’s team then for our leadership Meskhatins’ settlement can be only an additional factor of instability and interethnic tension. So are such experiments worthwhile for Georgia and our people, I wonder?
Moreover, our authorities should realize that such situation is also serious aggravator for influential US Armenian lobby, which can in any moment block Georgian entry into Euro-Atlantic structures.
