Labour have been in power for so long because there was no real alternatives. If any of the remixed conservative shadow cabinets (the Vulcan, the vague etc.) had actually won an election I shudder to think where we'd all be, certainly an outsider in Europe being affected by their trade laws but with no say in them. I don't much fancy our chances with Cameron considering the only real life experience he has is running a PR company. More spin is the last thing Britain needs. Gordon Brown isn't the most polished performer but that is kind of what I like about him. Does anyone think any Government can change a global crisis such as the economic downturn? Some can even argue deregulation under Thatcher would always have lead to this here conclusion.
Also Britain doesn't have a presidential system and the PM as such isn't decided by the people in some popularity contest although his constituents could alone decide his fate as we all know before an election who'd be the PM of either party after it. By the same token he also doesn't have a direct mandate; he can only push through policy by convincing his own party he is right therefore it doesn't matter who the PM is, only what kind of characters make up the government as a whole. How do we know the policy is set by the PM anyway? It isn’t so people should stop being so naive about changing one man to change their fortunes.

There is more stuff floating about in the universe that has no bearing on our lives than there is stuff floating about that does have a bearing on our lives, so what does this say about intelligent design?
