Default Chavez Gifts Obama With Book That Assails U.S. for Exploiting Latin America

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpu...-gifts-ob.html

Quote:
At President Obama's meeting with the heads of South American countries this morning, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez stood, walked over to him, and presented him with a copy of "Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent" by Uruguayan author Eduardo Galeano.

Obama politely posed for a photograph with Chavez, shook his hand, and accepted the gift.

How would you have him react?
It is much like Bush being stuck reading a book to children on 9/11. People assail him all the time for not reacting faster. How would they have wanted him to react? I think that was one of the correct moves that he made. He could not stand up screaming we are under attack.

So how do you want Obama to act with Chavez? Do you want him to toss the book in the garbage, punch him in the face, spit on him or take the book and deal with it when appropriate?

Obama Endures Ortega Diatribe

Quote:
Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega lashes out at a century of what he called terroristic U.S. aggression in Central America
Guys a punching bag Im afraid. He should make it known hes not going to be used as a vehicle for anti American propaganda.

These folk are using him like a rented mule....knowing he'll sit there and take it.

At the time of the 911 attacks what could Bush really do? Scare a bunch of school kids? Once he got up and moved on the 'War of Terror' commenced rather rapidly.

This is entirely different. The man is being made a fool of clearly and he has know this.

Hopefully Chavez will show Obama what a back bone is for rather than Obama bow down to Zionist pressure in the middle east.
Its pretty obvious that with the new right wing may I dare say the Republican old guard security advisers to Obama is a prelude to Iranian war.
Obama hasn't the back bone to stand up to the pre election American foreign policy of Bush and the neocons even though Obama has the public vote.

I think he did the right thing. You have to handle these thing lightly. He could not have said "Stick that book up your ass!"
He acted as an American President should.

I don't know what you wanted from him, you saw the best possible response.

At the point of the gift giving he probably didnt even know what he was being handed....but he shouldve issued a warning that hes not going to be exploited like this. Its pretty obvious this is their game.

He didnt tho and his aides Im sure will sweep it under the rug.

I defended the guy when he bowed to the Saudis but each time he steps into this stuff it certainly cant improve his stature as you are trying to convince me is the case.

I would've given a more apt title to the book "The rape and pillage of a continent"...

Absolutely agree with you. Protocol requires that he be polite and accept the book. Once he leaves he can whip the book into the nearest dumpster.
