Backing US Secretary of State Rice's efforts on a surprise visit to Afghanistan to drum up
NATO support for peace-keeping efforts, NATO Secretary General Jaap do Hoop Scheffer argued for Afghanistan's central role in the international "war on terror" during a NATO defense ministers' meeting in Lithuania. Without increased efforts from member nations, the West may be at risk for future attacks, he claims, but
not all member states agree.
"The contours of the presidential race now look nothing like those generally predicted on cable news, on the Internet and in print in the year before the casting of the first votes." With Clinton and Obama claiming minor victories in light of Super Tuesday's results, it seems the only thing that can be certain after the votes are cast is that
voter behavior is more complex than those aesthetically pleasing graphics on CNN lead one to believe.
The Clintons are making use of all available family ties. Still refusing to talk to the press,
Chelsea Clinton is now campaigning on her mother's behalf. I understand Bill's desire to return to the life-style of White House living, but I don't think the same can be said for Chelsea. Does she really want to revert to that gawky, girlish figure who inhabited the White House under her parents' watchful eye?
The Senate may be
close to reaching a deal on the Stimulus Plan.
