Default McCain's Ohio Endorsements Mean Very Little

Senator McCain picked up two (supposedly major) endorsements in the key state of Ohio in the past few days. Unfortunately for the Senator from Arizona, his support doesn't run very deep.
Senator George Voinovich:
Ohio Republican Sen. George Voinovich will wholeheartedly support GOP front-runner John McCain's bid for president in the wake of Mitt Romney's withdrawal from the race, Voinovich's spokesman said Friday.
Voinovich, who had been leaning toward Romney before the former Massachusetts governor bowed out Thursday, promised his support to McCain on the Senate floor only hours after Romney's exit, spokesman Chris Paulitz said.
Voinovich, five days earlier:
"McCain keeps saying, 'we need a leader; I can hire managers,' but we need a leader who understands management," Voinovich said in a meeting with the Enquirer editorial board Monday afternoon."
"There are big differences between being a mayor or a governor and being a legislator," said Voinovich, a former Cleveland mayor and governor of Ohio. "We are facing some serious issues in this country. We need somebody who knows how to run things."
House Minority Leader Rep. John Boehner:
"John McCain is an American hero and will make an excellent President of the United States," Boehner said at an endorsement appearance with other House GOP leaders. "McCain has a solid conservative record as one of the most vocal opponents of wasteful spending, a staunch defender of America's national security and a strong believer in the sanctity of human life."
Here's Boehner in May 2007, talking about McCain's immigration bill:
House Minority Leader John Boehner, speaking to a private gathering of Republican activists last night, called the Senate's immigration compromise bill a "piece of (*)(*)(*)(*)" but said that he had promised President Bush earlier in the day that he would let his teeth be a barrier to such thoughts in public.
