Congress is taking up one more bill to further fund the Bush-Cheney wars, but Congress does not have to. What are we asking of our elected officials? Representatives: Publicly commit to voting No on any bill that funds the occupation of Iraq, and to voting No on any procedural votes to bring such funding up for a vote. Point to example of House standing up against telecom immunity. Senators: Publicly commit to filibustering (voting No on cloture) any bill that funds the occupation of Iraq, and to voting No on any such bill that makes it to a vote. Point to example of Dodd on spying. TIMING: Week of Feb. 25 - Murtha working on bill Hit back with his own words. Week of March 3 - House vote March 10-19 ACTIONS: http://resistinmarch.org Week of March 10 - Bill goes to Senate Week of March 17 - House and Senate are out. Nonviolent protests are needed in district offices on 19th: http://resistinmarch.org (Source Link) |
