Default Blog Roundup: "Fast Talk" Express, Obama reaches out to LGBT community, Moore responds to health care plans, Words, words, words?

Questioning the "appearance of impropriety" surrounding McCain's close relations with more than one telecom lobbyist, Christy Hardin Smith at Firedoglake compares the Straight Talk Express to a drive through at In-n-Out. Perhaps the Straight Talk Express should try on the name "Fast Talk Express" for its attempt to pull a fast one on us.
Thousands of votes from California's "Decline to State" (i.e., Independent) voters from the democratic primary will be included in the vote counts. The first state that figures out how to write a easy-to-understand ballot deserves a prize, since re-reading the instructions is the last thing on my mind when I'm in the voting booth.
Last week, Jason asked "The Momentum Question" and now it seems Google Trends might offer a quantifiable measurement of election momentum. I'd say web trends offer more reliable measurements than Gallup polls…
"Can you imagine, every time Sen. Clinton says that, the licking of the lips that goes on with these health insurance executives?"
Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore claims health insurance companies will make a killing off Hillary's mandatory health care plan, but true to form, he criticized Obama as well.
As AMERICAblog reports, Obama has penned an open letter to the LGBT community while McCain remains silent. Noting his support for repealing the "Defense of Marriage Act", Obama writes,
As your President, I will use the bully pulpit to urge states to treat same-sex couples with full equality in their family and adoption laws. I personally believe that civil unions represent the best way to secure that equal treatment. But I also believe that the federal government should not stand in the way of states that want to decide on their own how best to pursue equality for gay and lesbian couples — whether that means a domestic partnership, a civil union, or a civil marriage.
Equality for all–even in marriage–sounds like an idea from which everyone can benefit.
In the battle between actions and words, I'd know rather have a president who thinks and speaks before going to war…America would do well to listen on occasion but being willing to talk first isn't such a bad idea either.
Telecoms, Congress and FISA, oh my!
