John McCain is furiously backpedaling after suggesting yesterday that our dependence on oil from the Middle East has led us to fight in that region.(*) McCain's "damage control" wasn't much better–he claimed he was talking about the first Gulf War and that we went to war in 2003 because of WMD.
McCain won't get off the hook so easy–it doesn't pass the straight-face test to accept that McCain was talking about a war fought 17 years ago when, coincidentally, we are at war right now in the Middle East.(*) But, even accepting McCain's lame explanation, there's a follow-up question begging to be asked:
Sen. McCain, you say we went to war in Iraq because of WMD.(*) But Iraq didn't actually have WMD–can you explain why more than 4,000 Americans have died and another 30,000 have been wounded(*)in a war fought to capture WMD that didn't actually exist?
Note: this isn't the only "clarification" McCain has had to make recently.(*) He is also backtracking from his claim that a Minneapolis bridge collapsed because of wasteful government spending.(*) (Minnesota's Republican Governor Tim Pawlenty carefully called McCain's comments a "theory", noting that federal investiagtors are currently determining what caused the collapse).(*) Daily Kos has more on these and other McCain "clarifications".(*)

We went to war with Iraq for various reasons as spelled out in the Iraq War Resolution.
Iraq was a sponsor of terrorism.
Conquering Iraq kept oil profits out of the hands of terrorists.

A more conservative candidate couldn't win, so you are praying for an American hero, who you disagree with on a few issues likely, to die so that we can elect obamo or clinton. Not only is it outrageous, but it is illogical.

I think I am more a Christian than you are and I don't believe Jesus ever meant for people to think he was the son of God anymore than anyone else nor did he think it important whether people believed it. It is amazing how the Church has twisted his teachings and emphasize trivia over a great man's message.

Excuse? Sure, he agreed to abide by certain terms to end the Gulf War, which he repeatedly violated in numerous ways. Many of those violations were in the area of WMDs and banned missile technology but there were plenty of others as well. By your ridiculous logic, no one who had ever sold a gun to Germany could have fought against hitler when he started his conquests.

Sure, the islamoretards target civilians, hide among them, and pretend to be them so more civilians are probably going to die in the fight against islamoterrorists than in a "traditional" war, by percentage of overall deaths.
