Default The REAL "Two Americas"

Don Surber (with help from Gallup and the Obama campaign) sets the record straight:
Two Americas
13% who believe in wealth redistribution and 84% who don’t.

Guess which group Democratic Sen. Barack Obama belongs to.

The numbers are from the Gallup Poll.

The Question: “Which approach should the government focus on to fix the economy: 1. Take steps to more evenly distribute wealth among Americans; 2. Take steps to improve overall economic conditions and the jobs situation?”

Overwhelmingly Americans chose the latter.

They remember Jack Kennedy, who said a rising tide lifts all boats.

Obama is among the 13% who want wealth redistribution. ...

Wealth redistribution might counteract the oppressive labor system that's been seemingly set into stone.

"Wealth redistribution" is theft ... pure and simple.

Agreed. Consciously cementing people into their 'rightful' places in society is a crime against humanity. We're (*)(*)(*)(*)ed either way.

But, of course, we are fortunate in this country that we have the ability, and the means, to escape our current place in society. Unfortunately, most don't have the fortitude to take advantage. It's easier to sit and complain and let somebody else fight to have it given it you.

Yes, many of us are very fortunate for that opportunity but may I point out that this opportunity doesn't exist uniformly throughout this country. Even today there are barriers that suffocate the poor.

Only if they allow them to. Perhaps you could expand?

I'm sorry Starry, but you have to make your own opportunities. If you wait for someone to give it to you, you'll stay where you are forever.

It takes a lot of sacrificing and hard work, but it can be done. Perhaps some people are unwilling to make those sacrifices?

Can you name one?
