Paul J Zak writing at the Huffington post makes the association that we've seen many times in this debate. In a post titled, "Gay Marriage is Natural", he argues that homosexuality is natural. Which is something I wouldn't disagree with. While I disagree with much of what he understands about marriage I don't disagree with his understanding of scientific research.
Yet he buries the headline here. Even if gay marriage is natural, note the bundled theory that tags along... Meanwhile, there seems to be nothing particularly 'natural' about marriage. Only about 3% of mammal species are monogamous -- meaning they cohabitate -- and few of these species mate for life. And nearly each partner in these 'animal marriages' engage in extra-pair mating. Lifelong sexual loyalty in nature is, it turns out, a vanishingly rare commodity. He then argues that the basis of marriage is the oxytocin induced relationship of caring and trust. While that is important, marriage is more surely based on the biological reality of procreation and how children are entitled to be born within the (even if no chemicals are supporting it) mutual trust and support of the other identity who shared to make that life. If you don't believe me check which emotions lead to monogamy, support and devotion and which do not. (Source Link) |

Hetero's like to claim they are monogamous but many of them screw around behind each others back, and they want to ban gays from marrying...when will the craziness end...

If the chemical balance that brought you together changes the state of the marriage can change quickly. If you have a similiar chemical reaction with someone else it can and will result in infidelity. The idea of chemical love can explain so many things if it is proven. There is also a movie not the greatest but it explores the idea that love is a chemical reaction. It is called Dopamine.
