Neither of the two parties is extreme. They're both rather moderate.
Second, dont take the best from either party. Dont take ANYTHING from either party. Simply go with what you personally believe and vote for whichever candidates agree with you most. Political parties are bad and it is in the nature of centrism and moderates to very rarely agree on most things. |

Saying "Political parties are bad," is kind of like announcing that "Water is wet." Given that we have to deal with circumstances such as they are, and not how we wish or hope they were, there aren't many choices. And certainlythe climate on K Street is not moderate. Democrats are completely in hock to interest groups and the Republicans in DC aren't much less in the grip.

When it comes to policy and law the two parties are virtually the exact same. And they are moderate. That's not to say the GOP has no extreme right of center people. They do. And the Dems have some pretty extreme left wing people. And there are differences between them. But what unites them together is power and money, with the end result being policies that end up right down the middle. Keep the greatest number of sheeple happy, collect your booty and go home.

Observing that power and money is what unites people who run a nation of 300 million people is true, but it's true in the way that potato chips are food. It's trivial, a given. Same as it ever was in any country at any time in history. Washington DC is like a medieval court, and the best players are not elected politicians who come and go every few years.
Real crossover politicans like, say, Duncan of TN, get the most accomplished and project the greatest sense of dignity and respect.

I posted that we need a "new Centrism," not "centrism." I'm aware that in the main the US Govt is pretty centrist. That isn't the point, IMHO. The laws we are governed by have to become more enduring, more amenable to more and more people over an extended duration of time.
Take something like Roe V. Wade, which has people at each other's throats year after year after year. It can't be so much longer. The left has basically equated this ONE ISSUE with the Supreme Court nomination process. Come on!
