Well, if a prostitute has a kid, at least she has a job to support that kid. Moreover, if she's smart about it, she's kept her nine-month-old appointment books, and thusly has a list of possible father suspects, and so the studs can be rounded up and tested and made to pay.

Money or integrity. That's the choice one must make. Men should protect and guard our society by controlling themselves, providing jobs, food, shelter, safety and understanding and respect to women who do not have a spouse or anyone to help them financially. Women also should help to keep women's integrity and provide alternate ways for them to make money and support their families. I feel men bear the primary responsibility since they have most of the authority in this economic system.

I also think it should be up to the states. That being said, Germany legalized prostitution a couple years ago. Germany is also quite the welfare state. The news story below illustrates what bizarre side effects can happen when these two conditions are combined...

If you're a prostitute you shouldn't be eligible for unemployment, social security, or anything like that anyway. In terms of leaving it up to the states, I believe that's how it is now. It's legal in two counties in Nevada and I thought one in Texas as well.

Way to go Germany! Eliminate the problem of organized crim syndicates forcing women into prostitution and replace with a government sanctioned requirement forcing poor women into prostitution. That's much better.
Now to the topic at hand. I agree legalizing and regulating prostitution would provide both safety for the women and customers involved and bring in much needed revenue for the country, but good luck getting prostitution legalized in this puritanical wasteland. Isn't it already up to individual states to decide? I mean, it's legal in Nevada. Speaking of which, interviewed prostitutes in Nevada seem quite happy with the situation there. I believe one prostitute even became mayor of a town out there. You know, we might consider voting in more prostitutes, seeing as their experience in the oldest profession might be beneficial in politics.

1. There's a high demand for their services. 2. The money's better than the alternative jobs available. 3. It doesn't take lots of advanced postsecondary education to get the position. |
