Default The Degredation of Our Republic

Every 4 years we as Americans have to make a choice. What exactly is the choice? Are we choosing a party affiliation? Standing staunch in our decision as if drawing a line in the sand. And what is the basis for that decision? Well I've heard comments like " well I'm not a blue collar worker so I have no need to vote Democrate because they don't do anything for me." On the other side I've heard " I'm a working man so I always vote straight Democrate." I find the idea of strong party loyalty an absurded act of lunacy. Because of this Ideaolgy of Democrate vs Republican we as Americans have sealed our fate. Our incessant lemming nature fuels the demise of our Republic ( yes we are a Republic, but politicians keep trying to dissolve this notion by constantly reffering to us a a Democracy ) as we follow popular trends. Marking schema's designed to create band wagons we can all jump on. I have not yet in all of my discussions with people ever once heard someone actually express their opinion on a candidate. Devoid of any real choices we seek to find the rose amidst a pile of fertalizer.

In the past 20 years we have seen the degradation of our country. Big business in lew of big profits has lured us to our demise, and I say Big business because no other pac group has enough funds to make the monkey dance. We are so ripe to follow a new fade that we will sell out our nieghbour and give away his job to be part of that fade. Is political choice a fade that is rammed down our throats by the media machine that is looking out for its own big profits?. Our demise is the fact that since we created and allow the "professional" politicians to wiggle their way through our system, we never put an end to the money train. It's very hard to find a real politician, and even hardered to remove a corrupt one. ONe would think that such an advanced society with information available in a split second could make an informed choice and not just follow the masses and believe the myth that there can only be two parties, or just one possing as two.

So I say that our demise is that we have no real choice, the days of passionate politicians, who as farmers and land owners made their journey to our capital to voice the opinions of us the people, have been replaced with the "Professional Pollitician" who is not willing to make our voice heard for fear of having to actually work for a living and possible upsetting the feed trough of Big business. Just Once I would like to see Americans stop believing the retoric that spews from the Idiot Box and corporate marketing schema's and make a real choice like they really lived in a Republic. I would like Americans Stand United and tell the eschelons that yes we still do make the decisions around here. Stand up and put stop to our degrading society that slowly being shipped over sea's for lower labor costs before we no longer have a choice.

thanks

Default consider fixing the problem, not the party

Don't know if you've been keeping up with Vote Mickey in 04, but you've hit the same nail on the head- Take a look at Mickey's platform near the end of the essay and let me know if these solutions make sense to you-
