What is 'self-hatred'? How is it possible to hate and reject oneself or one's own people?

* There is little doubt that psychologically, racism is harmful to its victims. The most profound effect associated with situations of extreme degradation (such as is found under slavery or in concentration camps or in racist states like South Africa) is the acceptance by the oppressed group of the dominant group's definition of the situation. This is the phenomenon of self-hatred found, for example, in cases of Jewish anti-Semitism or in the acceptance by blacks of white aesthetic criteria of having straight hair or a light skin. Self-hatred is often accompanied by symptoms of apathy, anxiety, and depression or by forms of self-destructive escapist reactions such as alcoholism or drug addiction or, in extreme cases, by paranoid, schizophrenic or manic depressive psychoses. In such situations of extreme degradation then, the oppressed group frequently reacts in an 'intropunitive' fashion; that is, it turns its frustrations inwardly against the self or the 'in' group at large.

I think self hating by any person is wrong. I think that he culture dictates how ppl think of their own culture or their parents culture. The culture also adopt what is the definiton of being in (blond hair, protestant, blues eyes, stright hair) Many ppl that live in areas that are dominated by one ethnic group will slowly adopt mannerisms of that group. I think some jews struggle with this b/c they live in white areas that are overwhelmingly christian

Well it appears the orthodix jews don't like the fact that Jews don't flock to their religion which of course doesn't not teach assimilation. . . .not very PC. . in fact they call their cousins nasty names like : "Jews For Nothing"

I understand, but what is assimulation, dropping the religon and adapting the American standard of beauty? That what i got from reading the article. I've gotten ppl that tell me i'm not assimulated b/c I still speak spainsh and my family still celebrate Bolivian holidays

Ah they believe it is against their religious beliefs to interracial marry (assimilate) . . . now if a white man said that they would be called a racist, bigot etc. . . .but the jews (antichrists) are called "God's Chosen People" so no rules apply to them. .. they are the poster children for PC so you can't call them racist. . .

What wrong with not marrying outside the race or ethinicity. Many parents strongly object a person dating outside the race, that includes whites, blacks and latinos. If it is against their religous believe then so be it, what do you care.

i don't think it's so wrong to say"marry ur own people"...of course u can't force it,because democracy comes first,but u can prssure and if the love is strong enough,it will pass that rule. and christians can also say it......actually we have droozim(not jewish) in israel,nice people but when it comes to marriages,it's a law for them to marry only within them selves.a girl was murdered because she dated a moslem...of course the police went in and arrested people.......but i don't think it's wrong to say that sentence and again if the love is strong enoough,it will pass that rule,stupid or not stupid.
