Default No man's land

I cannot seem to find a political party that supports my views completely. My question to you is: can anyone fully embrace a political party's agenda and by that I mean agree on every issue, or must the voter make an effort to accept those party proposals which he or she likes the least? I'd say that fully supporting a political party is a clear example of excessive political naivety.

Default .

I know exactly how you feel. Be a registered Independent, by all means. One thing that I've noticed on this forum is that the opinions of people on the far right and far left on any subject are completely predictable. I won't name anyone in particular, but there are many people on the site who think solely in terms of party loyalty- and they assume that everyone else does the same.
For example, whether you agree with me or not, I defended Bush against the "draft dodger" claims but I've attacked him over the eavesdropping controversy. In the former case I was called a Republican and in the latter a Democrat. The reason is obvious. Many other people think that my opinions must represent some political party's agenda, but they don't. So to conclude an unnecessarily long post (I do tend to ramble), I gave up looking for a political party because I don't want to make my conscience conform to a party line. Everyone should follow his or her conscience apart from political parties or labels.

Default Well said!

Wasn't it the purpose of democracy in the first place? People are supposed to be in power and politicians, who we elect, must represent us, not try to impose some views on us or convince us that a particular project is good or bad for us. That must be decided by the people. I think there still exists that myth among politicians that people are not responsible enough to take care of their own business, that somehow we need to be guided by men who understand better how state affairs work.

Default Good posts, Guys..

This is where we are now as a country. That is why having independent thought is crucial..

I have been accused many times on this forum of being a Bush Basher, Bush hater and Liberal..simply because I disagree with policies of this admin.

I have been accused of providing aid and comfort to the "enemy" because I have disagreed with admin policy.

I have been accused of undermining the miliatry..which includes my own wife's cousin....

At some point, you simply shake your head in despair. My solace now is trusting in the Lord who knows exactly what is going on..

Default I don't know anyone who

who agrees with a party 100% of the time (aside from a few people on this forum). I don't agree with a great many things the Libertarian Party says. But they are the closest party to my particular views. And they are far better than the Republicrats, who actually stand for very little of anything. If you agree with any party 100% let me suggest you are simply not doing much in the way of thinking. Which would make you a great American BTW.
