I have spend a good amount of time on this forum just reading and understanding why some people believe the things that they do. Yet, I have come to understand that all Americans know a truth and agree on that truth even if their views are drastically different. The truth that I speak of is the realization that all media and information from far sources is skewed, biased and sheer brainwashing. It doesn't matter what side they are with, they mix their opinion cleverly with the few facts that they posses. This is immoral and wrong. The media's job is to present us with real information about the news going on in the world. I am so fed up of hearing the 1st class talk about how they know what is best for this country as they control the wealth and the means of broadcasting this load of pure evil to the numb masses.

I want to see real information, NOT TERRY SHIAVO, NOT MIKE JACKSON, I DONT CARE THAT CLINTION WROTE ANOTHER BOOK, WHO CARES WHAT DR. PHIL IS DOING, This is unreal that they get away with pure lies. THE UNITED STATES MEDIA MUST BE DESTROYED AND REBORN.

What are the casualties on the other side of this war??? You never hear it because that would improve morale and give people a sense of patriotism

Actually, an expert on the liberal media concluded that liberal reporters imagine that they are moderate. They stay in left-wing circles in Manhattan and Los Angeles so much that conservative views strike them as extreme. "Peer pressure" is the basic cause of the media's liberal bias. As for Fox News, it was set up as a deliberate counter to the liberal media. It has a deliberate conservative bias. What I do is look at what the liberal media has to say about an event and then check various conservative watchdog sites to get the other side of the story. Since both camps selectively use the truth, I can get a full picture of a story in that way.

The stories that "they" run from CNN to Fox News are totally irrelavent to things actually going on. The entire media is a three ring circus. There to entertain, not inform. The fact that you go from channel to channel comparing stories is proof. If the meda was a real source and not a brainwashing commercial when you changed the channel you would see a change of stories. Not 20 channels covering the exact samething.

Sensationalism presents a greater danger to the proper flow of information than any political bias. I have seen egregious examples of the former on both CNN and Fox.

Other than racing, some lifestyle (Fine Living is my new fave network), science, scifi shows and business news, my TV generally remains off... or on music (audio only) channels. What's very strange is I'm unable to engage many of the people at my new office in conversation. It's frightening how so many people live in a world that revolves around what's on television. I get all of my non-business related news from the internet. And with that, I feel that I'm better able to filter out the constant stream of B.S., that is TV news.

this is why I can't stand CNN and FoxNews. I prerfer BBC News International. SkyNews is really good too.

What you say about the mass media is what you say about the market. All this crap sells for some reason. Otherwise they wouldn't show so much of it. Any regulation or forceful assault on the media will be against the will of the larger part of the public and compromise the free market. As long as people buy the products advertised on stupid TV programs, we can expect more of the same.

I dont agree that bias = brainwashing. "Brainwashing" implies coersion where there is none.

I guess its a good thing then that we have so much media to choose from, representing every possible point of view. Makes it a lot easier to screen out the bias, dont you think?

There is no such thing as information free from bias. And personally, I think choice is a good thing. I dont want some nebulous 3rd party deciding the definition of "unbiased" for me.

The easiest way to send that message is to stop watching those shows.

They deliver what we want to see. Why is that their fault?

A lot of them are, but I think it would be exaggerating to say they ALL are irrelevant. If anything they are sometimes too relevant. CNN was running non-stop 911 crap weeks after 911 actually happened. 27 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Maybe...but you are blaming the wrong people. The media are not the ones with the power.

I watch all 3. Choice is a wonderful thing. I dont want anyone censoring my media.
