Happy new year everyone. As we are closing 2005, in political circles there are heated discussions trying to predict what the U.S. will do to deal with this tyrant dictatorship.
Iran's new unelected president Ahmadinejad is charging ahead despite all the incentives West is willing to offer, His government is formed out of all militant revolutionary guards, and is influencing the elections in Iraq no signs of compromise yet. I brought the question to this forum to exchange ideas on the issue. I am concerned about the course of event the way it is going. Is U.S going to invade Iran? What do you think? |

In Iran, we should link the CIA with dissenting forces and set up a coup to oust the current regime. By the way, Iranian elections have only a facade of democracy:

That is true with the neoconservative technique of warfare, but supporting a coup of moderates in a country like Iran would be effective. The government that then took power would have to stay within certain ethical boundaries because the people in it would know that if we gave them power, we could take that power away just as easily. Such a method also has the advantage that the people of a country don't see a foreign presence as they do in a war.

We didn't like the Shah, remember? So we helped put someone else in power. What did we get? A theocracy! We actually prefered the Shah as it turned out. We also really liked Saddam. That turned out great, too. Things work out best when we play Sweden (i.e. butt the hell out).
