Elections come, elections go with parties in power and then out. What is true is that America moves left continuously. This can be seen and measured with our changing attitudes, social changes, and laws. Conservatives can argue this as well as saying the sun rises in the west. The fact remains that they lose their country to the left and progressive ideas decade by decade. Whether abolishing slavery, women voting, collective bargaining, clean air and water acts, work place safety, consumer protection, etc.

Losing constantly builds anger and hatred which is what American conservatives are facing.

I love how the left keeps using words like 'progressive' and 'smart' to run their agenda. Such deception.

Anyways you're right on one fact, that the government will continue to move away from social conservatism (christianity) because morals involving an all knowing floating man in the sky have no place in the laws of modern society, but we're not going to be moving so far left that society is going to start looking like a prius commercial. No everyone has some need to 'save the planet' and the cost of doing so is very real. The left is doing the same thing the right has tried to do for some time, put their morals into law. At some point this will change and, much like christian morals, people will get sick of it and not want to be forced by government to maintain that standard. I guess what I'm getting at is the lefts idea of 'progress' is not shared by everyone and some of it is pretty regressive.

Nope...Liberalism, progressive, leftist, or whatever the name 'du jour'.... is being thwarted not only by the powerful conservative radio talk show entities but by it's own repressive ideology. Obama, being the quintessential liberal, has revealed just how soul-less and bereft of basic common sense the liberal agenda is.
