The following is in my opinion only.



A U.S. soldier has been accused of "waterboarding" his four-year-old daughter because she would not recite her ABCs.

Joshua Tabor, 27, of Yelm, Wash., allegedly beat the child before holding her head under water Sunday night in the family's kitchen sink, The News Tribune reported.

Tabor reportedly told a police officer that he and his girlfriend "held her down on the counter and submerged her head into the water three or four times until the water came around her forehead and jawline," according to the newspaper.

The suspect said he punished the girl for "refusing to say her letters."

Tabor, a soldier at the Lewis-McChord base in Tacoma, Wash., has been charged with second-degree assault of a child and is set to appear in court Feb. 16.

The suspect reportedly told police that his daughter was afraid of water "and was squirming around trying to get away from the water."

"Joshua did not act as though he felt there was anything wrong with this form of punishment," the police report said.

Tabor's girlfriend also told authorities that the girl had “severe bruising on her entire back" and had locked herself in a closet to hide from her father, the newspaper reported.

While I was rather disgusted with this father and his lady friend for their behavior, it did get me to thinking.

Is this an acceptable form of disciplining your children for those that think that waterboarding is not torture? Surely if it's as benign as many have claimed then this would be alright, correct? Then this soldier is simply employing corporal punishment that should be acceptable.

I find it odd that anyone would justify waterboarding in any way, shape or form, and I find it ironic that a soldier would be arrested for doing it to his daughter, soldiers in the past have been court martialed for it, yet some still find it acceptable.

The 2008 election was the first time in history that the United States knowingly elected a President who was born after 1787 and whose parents were not both U.S. citizens.

As the US has outlawed waterboarding as torture and the father is a serviceman, he should be courts marshalled because if it's illegal to practice waterboarding on a terrorist, how can anyone justify it for any reason.

First off, let me state that it was a horrible act done to a poor child. The father has major issues, and hopefully will have to pay the consequences for what he did.

But what the sicko father did was NOT waterboarding. The MSM got the facts wrong, yet again. Waterboarding is a different technique in which the face is not placed in water. Instead, a cloth is placed over the face and water is poured over the cloth.

waterboarding's worse. there's a reason you're restrained on your back in waterboarding and your head is placed lower than your body -- it's to increase and accelerate the feeling of terror. if your face is just held underwater you wont feel like you're drowning until you start running out of air. in waterboarding you feel like you're drowning instantly.

if you're ok with waterboarding, you have to be ok with this.
