Do you think the Jews are milking the Holocaust?
I mean, it was a horrible thing and the master of it, is dead and probably burning in hell as we speak (Hitler). And also dead are many of the people who helped him. so should the rest of the world stop feeling sorry for the Jews and allowing them to get away with building nuclear bombs. If we are going to tell everybody else not to build nukes, should we not hold Israel accountable also for building them. should we not tell them if they don't get rid of their weapons we will invade them like we did to Iraq and later will do to Iran?

Yes.
The challenge today is to restore the Nazi Holocaust as a rational subject of inquiry. Only then can we really learn from it. The abnormality of the Nazi holocaust springs not from the event itself but from the exploitive industry that has sprung up around it. The Holocaust industry has always been bankrupt. What remains is to openly declare it so. The time is long past to put it out of business. Norman G. Finkelstein, “The Holocaust Industry”. (London: 2000), Page 150. |

I agree with poletree and SS. It's no crime to keep the memory alive of a tragic event that cost the lives of millions of one ethnic group.
About nuclear weapons, That's a tough call, and I suppose that's why no one condemns Israel for having them. Yes, it is hypocritical for the world that wants to eliminate all nukes to allow Israel to make them while refusing others, but Israel is under constant threat of attack from many different enemies, so nukes are a good tool to keep them at bay. I only wonder if Irsael really wouldn't use them unnecessarily. They don't have the best track record in methods of dealing with their enemies, and I would hate to see their nukes being used against them in an unjust manner.

The Western tradition, more particularly the Greeks and even more especially the Epicureans, approach memory from an almost Barbara Streisand-like perspective of what's too painful to remember, we keep trying to forget: in short, historical amnesia (if it's too unpleasant). But nothing could possibly be more antithetical to the Judaic mindset. The Jews have a concept called zakhor, meaning rougly "remember!" But it means so much more than that. It means the preservation of one's traditions generation unto generation as a reminder of God's dealings with His chosen people. It has been said that he who is ignorant of the past is doomed to repeat it. The Holocaust should always be remembered SO THAT IT NEVER FRICKING HAPPENS AGAIN!!!
