Dear Young Soldier,
You left this world in an instant. Yet in the time preceeding that untimely death, you gave freedom to so many forever. You have given me hope that a new day of freedom will remain in a place where freedom was nothing more than a word that was never to be spoken aloud. You gave love and friendship to us all and in your ultimate sacrifice, you gave continuing freedom to us all. Your belief in what you were doing was strong and yet you often wondered how so many could not understand your mission. Today I understand your mission. And I pray the mission will continue until all Iraqi's and the whole Middle East are free. What better way to insure the continuation of a free life then to take away the power the terrorists. You asked me once if the terrorists feel righteous why they hide behind hoods. I told you they were nothing more than what the KKK was in the early 1900's. Once again I say, terrorists are nothing more than cowards who win through intimidation and fear. You in your fight eliminated some of their power and while so much is still left to be done, I thank you. I thank you with all my heart. I have loved you since the day you were conceived. Your arrival in this world made so many of us happier than you can ever imagine. Your departure has saddened us but the memories of you will sustain us through the hard days ahead. We will never stop the fight for freedom and we will honor your service in the fight against tyrrany and terror. Until we meet again, you are in my heart always and I will never forget your love, devotion, loyalty and most of all your sacrifice. No matter what some say you did not die in vain. You lived in the light and fought for the light. You are my hero. All My Love, Therese

As touching as this is, and as much as I grieve for and am proud of our troops, I have to correct one common misconception that is perpetrated in that letter: our troops are NOT in Iraq fighting for our freedom.

My question to you now is: Why couldn't you just leave this letter to stand on its own? It wasn't addressed to you. It was meant as a tribute to a slain soldier. Nothing is sacred to you is it?

And let me correct one thing. You aren't acting like an idiot, you are an idiot. Why can't you leave this thread alone and start another one. This isn't about you woman. It's about a dead soldier who fought for your right of freedom speech of amongst others. God you are dense.

Iraq didn't invade the US.
Therefore they are NOT protecting the freedoms of the US. They have invaded a sovereign country that DIDN'T attack us. You have obviously had a tipple too many at lunch my dear....

Lapping up propaganda like that is dangerous to our country Therese.
Our American military hasn't fought a war for the freedom of its citizens in many decades my dear. Our military, in the majority, are assigned to places where they serve as peacekeepers - - IOW - - policemen. |
