I sympathize. I'm an animal lover. Eating other life is part of the condition for life, something most animals will not show mercy to us for. We at least try to kill food animals humanely, unlike most creatures, and we eat creatures that have actually evolved along side us to be indifferent to the containment and herding methods we use. I'm caught on drug testing. On one hand, I feel it's necessary. On the other hand, it's terrible. Puppy farm killings are sick. What makes me sickest are people who kill (cats are a huge victim, but even if it's a rat or something) simply for the joy of killing. And I also feel that such behavior is indicative of how a person feels about all life, including human life. I think we should only kill when we have to or when it is merciful and in all cases we should use as humane (quick and painless) of methods as possible. We cannot keep from killing universally. But we must never allow killing to destroy our humanity. The same goes for how we treat people... all people.

yeah i'm a great animal lover(an ex-vegeterian),few cats, dog and hamsters, used to have fish and rabbits..........i'm extremely against animal expirements......also,you should know what you eat.....the goose liver, that's banned of producing in several countries,is the most terrible thing iv'e ever seen, except for the holocaust. they jam hot corn with a pipe in a goose's throught......the prosses of enlarging the liver, takes 30 days, and invloves painfull life for the goose. the liver ends up 5-6 TIMES larger than it was, making what you eat in restaurants. i'm proud to say that in israel a law was made a few months ago to ban goose's liver "producing",but the companies in israel just import them from abroad......fight it in your country!!!
BS,if it makes you fell any good,i don't eat ham.(jew)

I'm an animal lover, but I don't like to use the term "animal rights". People who are intentionally cruel to animals or run puppy farms should be given lengthy hard labor sentences. I get my dogs from the SPCA and tell everyone I meet to go there too. I eat meat but I would most likely starve if I had to kill it myself.

But then again... I can also kill fish and prepare them as food. It seems to be mostly mammals I have a hard time with hurting.

I think Troy McClure said best:
If a cow had the chance, he'd eat you and everyone you care about. I like animals. Cats are cool; dogs are fun. However, I'd rather see products be experimented on animals rather than putting untested products on the market, and I'd certainly rather see testing on animals rather than on humans. Human rights comes before animal rights, IMO.

I'm an animal lover too. While I'm not absolutely opposed to killing animals to eat them, I am opposed to the way that we do it. Animals are kept in horrible conditions for thier entire lives, just to end up on somebodies diner plate. If the animals had lived thier lives in the wild, and were then shot and collected for food, I would have much less of a problem with it.
I certainly wouldn't go out hunting things for sport - if I killed something for that reason, I would feel like an absolute idiot. On the other hand, if one of my dogs catches a racoon or something, and mortally wounds it, I will kill the animal to put it out of its misery.

I would rather go hunting and eat the animal that way than have processed meat from supermarkets (not that I oppose that way of doing it). I just see hunting as something completely natural, and completely humane. But there is something not natural about factory killing of animals, as economical as it is.
