I am an American.. an embarrassed American.. even if the Abu Ghraib photos are from 2003, this should never happen.. we are supposed to be better than this.. we ARE better than this.. we are The United States of America!! God forgive us and SAVE US!
We have become what we hate.. we have become terrorists.. I don't want to be a part of this.. I don't want to be near this.. this is painful and shameful.. I am not against the Bush administration, but its time to come home and work on ourselves.. I desire what is just, truthful, honorable and upright.. and that at this time is not us.

This is a complete joke. The Abu Ghraib story is dead, buried, and decomposed, but certain people are trying to resuscitate and keep it alive.

I wouldn’t worry about the Muslim world’s opinion of Abu Ghraib. They are still busy complaining about political cartoons from last year and the Christian Crusades hundreds of years ago. Someday, some sane people will focus on present day problems.

I think the liberal press is desperate to pin something on Bush. It reminds me of Al Franken’s bitter and pointless crusade against Bill O’Reilly. Is this the wisdom of liberalism?

You are completely right. Americans are becoming more and more like terrorists. Sure, the whole situation might be "long gone." So what? World War 2 has been "long gone," yet bigot comments and jokes are made every day. Just because the action is past tense does not mean it is neccesarily over. Americans need to shape up.

Now that is pure evil.. and the problem we can't see or touch. We need to care about the Muslim people's opinion... We need to care about all people! We are all equal! You can't possibly believe you are more human than another? Attitudes like that are destroying this country and I do not want be a part of it. I do not want to get dragged into this. Please take note, I don't want to offend you personally.. I desperately do want you to see the folly of your thoughts.. Let me try to open your mind and heart: If you throw a rock at a man and then in return he beats you with a stick.. who is at fault? who will defend you? Will you call on me? My family? My Children? no no no.. I want nothing to do with this. If I am accidentally attacked for your actions, do you then think I will defend you or allow my family to? I will not, because I know the attack was not aimed at me... and it was launched in self defense. You are dragging me, my family and our country into something that is wrong in every way.

How do we stop this? How do we possibly wake up the sleeping half of our country that is dividing us and causing the rest of us grief and anguish!??

Really? If we have become terrorists, I'm wondering, when was the last time we had a suicide bomber blow up or have a soldier steering a plane into a building, to kill people? Yeah because we haven't done that

None of this was sanctioned by our government. It is not US policy.

If we are guilty, it is for negligence for not catching these criminals faster. But they are criminals, not representatives of our government.

Who are we terrorizing?

Even if we HAD done it deliberately, the whole point of terrorism is to instill fear in the population at large. This stuff was kept secret. Terrorists would not try to keep it secret.

There is an easy way to not be any part of it. Surrender your citizenship and move to Europe or Canada. problem solved.

Justice is absed on law. These actions were not sanctioned by us or our government. They were committed by criminals acting on their own. IMO, their actions border on Treason.

I’m not too concerned because I think the vast majority of these vocal fanatics are just a bunch of bellyaching drama queens who desperately look for excuses to validate their collective stupidity and foolishness. I can only hope they put a fraction of their energy into doing something productive.
