Global Warming and the US administration's ignorance of it
"James Hansen said Nasa officials ordered his lectures, papers and website postings to be reviewed before publication after he called last month for an immediate reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Requests for interviews were also being screened. He said he had been told there would be "dire consequences" if he repeated his warnings about climate change." --Telegraph News
"WASHINGTON, Feb. 16 — Lawmakers of both parties urged NASA's leaders on Thursday to improve the ways the agency conveys scientific information to the public. The lawmakers were responding to a cascade of reports about efforts by political appointees in the space agency's press office to restrict interviews or alter news releases that might conflict with Bush administration policies on pollution, global warming and other issues." --NY Times
Refusal of the Kyoto Protocol, censorship of scientific news and research, broken promises -- this isn't helping.
Our country is blinded by politicians' love of the office they hold. It's tearing us apart, to the point where we can't face the dangers we must confront. Today, the dangers seem far away. But when tomorrow comes and the beasts we've been ignoring are at our door, what will we do? And will it be too late? Remember, we all share the same world. You can't run, and you can't hide from some things.
