Default The death penalty.

This is, for the most part, a very black and white issue for most people, but I have yet to hear a satisfactory argument either way, and remain undecided on this issue. Both stances have flaws, although I feel that the arguments for the death penalty are more flawed. Therefore, I would be grateful if you would state what your stance is on this issue and explain it. Hopefully, I will be able to then come to a more definite decision. Thank you.

One can release a person from prison, but not from death:

Besides, we can't teach society to be less violent by killing.

Yes, but cases such as those are incredibly rare, and are becoming more so due to better technology.

Well, if you're looking for someone who is in the middle on this issue, I'm the wrong person. I'm 100% opposed to the death penalty with no exceptions. I'll be attacked for writing this, but I wouldn't have executed Adolf Hitler had I captured him alive. That doesn't mean I wouldn't feel like killing certain people, but I don't put my feelings ahead of lives.

Why kill someone when you can let them live?

No, I certainly wasn't looking for someone in the middle of the road. I wanted people from both sides to provide the best arguments they could. I already err on the side of pro-life, but I am not 100% definite.

I don't know if I would kill Hitler, I may have made him work towards the rebuilding of Europe, slave labour. As for never killing, I can't say I'd never kill. If my life, or the life of another, was threatened, I would use any means necessary to defend myself/them, if that meant killing, then so be it. Although that would have to be the very last option.

Why do some people deserve to live?

Because, they have not taken away another's right to live.

So taking away a person's right to live is the answer to a person taking away another's right to live?

So what is the answer? Leaving them free to do it again?

The best justification for the death penalty, I have heard is that everyone has the right to life, and if you take another's right, you lose your's.
