I recently rediscovered Thomas Paine's book Common Sense. It has been dubbed by some, "The book that built America." It had a direct influence on the form this country took. It's a short book, if anyone wants to read it. I mention it here because it is direct information about the principles this country was founded. It might help us get past some of the historical fiction that floats around.
You can get the newest edition of it at: http://bigfishbooks.com/commonsense.html |

If you honestly want to learn about the beginnings of America, and many of the ideas that the founders burrowed from and what not read "The Roots Of American Order" By Russel Kirk.
