Default Bush administration conservative? hardly.....

Gee, let's see if we (collectively) figure out exactly how "conservative" the Bush administration is.

I'll use my own political preferences as a starting point, since that seems to be a convenient reference frame.

Let's go down the list:

Small government - the Bush administration has grown the size of government beyond imagination. They've created an entirely new bureaucracy (DHS) which is as of yet completely non-functional. They've extended the federal tentacles as deep and as wide as they'll go, including intrusions into the personal medical space, trampling on States' rights, expansion of "outward" intelligence activities "inward" (complete with billions of dollars of expenditures on technology that doesn't even produce the desired results).... So, nix that one. No small government for Georgie.

Fiscal responsibility - forget about it. Mushrooming deficits. Largest new foreign debt in US history (bigger than all the 42 previous administrations put together). Raised the debt cieling 11 times (now trying for 13). Pissing away money on a useless foreign war (complete with the usual government snafus of waste, fraud, and mismanagement, not to mention those billions of defense dollars that simply "disappeared" - no one knows where they went).

Rule of Law - not. Bushie seems to make up the laws as he goes along. So far he's "reinterpreted" the Constitution in favor of an "imperial" Presidency, which was specifically not the intent of the Founding Fathers, violated statutes in several important areas (using the excuse of Executive Power), trampled all over treaties that we signed in good faith, violated the Geneva Conventions (all four of them)... The "law" seems to be what Georgie wants it to be, and nothing more. So much for the will of the People.

Social Issues - Bush hasn't done a darn thing in this area. Not one. He keeps paying it lip service, but he's done absolutely nothing in this sphere.

Freedom of Speech - as well as legitimate political protest - has been a big joke under this administration. Bushie has used his political power to censor the opposition, prevent political protest at public functions and on public grounds, threaten reporters with legal action....

Foreign Entanglements - need I say more?

So who here will support the position that the Bush administration is "conservative"? Anyone?

Default good, so no one wants to argue this one?

Gee, well, if Georgie isn't a conservative, then he must be one of those darn libruls.

A wolf in sheep's clothing.

That's all I've been saying all along.

(It's just pretty funny to hear the Republicans' logic on this one).

Oh yeah, I forgot - we're cool 'cause those darn libruls are a lot worse...

Question: what kind of sound does a cockroach make when the light comes on?
