Default Pointing out the stupidity of the left and the right

Now, everyone knows that when we heard he was killed, and the liberals went out and said how its not a big deal, and it really doesn't mean anything, and that everything bad is still going on.

Now, I think thats a bit looney and they've gone too far, I mean c'mon, its kinda a big deal and must be good.

BUT, notice how the conservatives immediately came out and attacked the liberals for typically saying that his death was no big deal.

Well, I noticed something while reading the National review...

http://www.nationalreview.com/

I quote for article headlines in a row....

Quote:
THE EDITORS: Zarqawi’s death is particularly welcome because it comes at such a distressing time in Iraq. “An Opening” 06/09 5:42 AM

RICH LOWRY: Killing Zarqawi is the equivalent of averting a Haditha every other day in Iraq, indefinitely. “The Stakes” 06/09 5:55 AM

W. THOMAS SMITH JR.: It would be underestimating the impact of Zarqawi’s death to say it is a major blow to al Qaeda in Iraq. “The Black Prince Is Dead” 06/09 5:55 AM

MICHAEL LEDEEN: We have probably just lived through the greatest global counterterrorist operation in history. “Iran Connects the Dots” 06/09 9:21 AM
All four in a row, progressively praising it more and more.

This is an example of how screwed up both sides are. While the right attacks the left and making no big deal of his death, they go ahead and make too big a deal of his death, which they would all counter with their rendition being the proper one.

So both sides are screwy. One lambashes everything for being no big deal, while the other makes a big deal out of everything.

Default "see other thread"

Yes indeed. There's a lot of us in the middle here. In the other thread, I replied to rota's comment that he seemed to find it difficult to "identify" with either of the parties, and it seems to me that I'm hearing enough of that kind of thing, in places like this forum and others, that we centrists could make a pretty significant political impact if we were able to somehow coalesce and focus our political efforts.

I mean, I'm kinda sick and tired of being limited by the "two" choices that the major parties want to foist on me. If this next presidential election comes down to Hillary vs. McCain, I'm going to gag, that'll be enough to make me choke up what little of my dinner I can still keep down (politically speaking). Both of them are political weasels, they want to make us believe that they're "centrists", but the only reason for that is the pollsters who are saying that a lof of America is leaning that way at the moment. If the polls were to indicate differently, you can be sure that they'd shift accordingly.

It seems to me, that a truly "centrist" party, with an emphasis on practical matter rather than ideology, could be an enormous political force in today's world. But that means, that people like you and me, need to get off our duffs and make it happen. Otherwise, we're going to be stuck with the same old choices next time around, which boils down to the lesser of two evils, and a middle ground that continues to grow vanishingly smaller with every passing year.

Just a thought....

We will always have two parties due to the nature of our political voting system.

Zarqawi was a monster. He deserved to die. How can there be any doubt, when the guy sawed off the heads of innocent victims? Man, the moral relativism that has infected the West really scares me. If someone sawed off MY son's head, there would be NO PLACE ON EARTH for him to hide. I would find him and make him pay, no matter what it took. So would you, in all probability. You simply haven't tried to empathize with Nick Berg's parents and friends.

Isn't Berg's father presently capitalizing on Berg's beheading, in a bid for political office? I thought I saw that in another thread here. If true, he and Cindy Sheehan would make a lovely new Perot and Stockdale type of third-party ticket. Please. Give them the widest audience possible. Sheehan for President is our dying wish for slapstick politics.
