This is a poll regarding flag burning. Should flag burning be reinstated as a federal crime? If this is done, flag burning will be punishable by stiff fines, rather than amending the Constitution. Please take this poll, and explain why you believe it should or should not by replying to this post. If you are uncertain, please explain why you are uncertain. Is it because you do not know much about the subject or because you do not care? Please explain. I am taking this poll for a college class so feel free to reply to this poll with any thoughts on this subject. Thank you. Have a nice day.

At one time when the flag stood for something special I would have voted yes. However now I just don't know. I do know if you burn a Mexican flag you will be arrested but a U.S. flag doesn't seem to be as highly thought of by our government as that communist rag from Mexico is and you can burn the Stars and Stripes without any problems.
What the heck...I'll vote "yes" one more time just because I hate Mexican illegal scum burning it. |

There's zero chance of having a Constitutional amendment related to flag-burning. 38 states and 2/3 of the Senate? Forget about it....
Lemme tell you a little story. My mom was born in Switzerland (which is right next to Germany). She lived through WW-2. She came to the US in 1956. Once here, she immediately hooked up with her good friend in Schenectady NY, whose husband worked at GE and happened to be a member of a certain union (which shall remain nameless). So as it happens, she was asked to attend a union meeting. The very first thing they did was to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.... Mom almost choked on her soda water. Her first reaction was, "Oh my God, what have I done?" It immediately evoked fresh memories of Nazi Germany, 'cause that's the exact same thing they did there. March in lock-step to some dumb flag. And most of 'em didn't even know what it stood for. Now, I'm not the kind of guy that runs around burning flags, 'cause I can think of better things to do with my time. But by the same token, I'm not about to pledge allegiance to a dumb piece of fabric. My participation in these United States is entirely voluntary. The moment it becomes a fascist state or a communist state or any other kind of state I don't like, I'm outta here. Fortunately, that hasn't happened yet. I'm keeping one eye open while I sleep though.... (By the way, just so y'all know, the Pledge of Allegiance was written by Francis Bellamy in 1892. Good ol' Francis was a self-proclaimed socialist. The words "under God" were added in 1954, in response to McCarthyism and the "godless Communist hordes"). |

It's a good thing Rota doesn't watch NASCAR. Otherwise we'd hear endless rants about how the France family decides which driver will win a race before the race is even run.
