Hello! I think you will agree with me that one way or another, G8 was a sort of failure.
Just think of it - firstly, a war of Israel against Lebanon took its rise right before the start of Summit and "phone calls to Israel, Lebanon, Syria and Iran began while G8 leaders were still en route to St Petersburg, while from the moment they landed, the Middle East dominated talks around the margins of the summit, at meal times and during many of the formal sessions", BBC wrote. The discussion of agenda (which included situation in Iraq, Guantanamo Bay prison, the US foreign politics, and the main subject – energy security of Europe) got frustrated and somewhat moved aside. Secondly, there was one more event to affect the Summit. A world known terrorist and warlord Shamil Basaev (who is known for an attack on a school in Beslan) was done away with in a blast of explosives when he was making preparations for a series of terrorist acts averse to the Summit. Of cause, these two events (warfare of Israel and terrorist acts) were not a mere coincidence. Someone was coordinating them to coincide with Summit of G8 and they have gained their point! Then who might want it? Any ideas? I've got one – there is only the US that has a stake in failure of G8. It is perhaps too obvious, but it's true. Now it turns out that Washington cooperates with Chechen terrorists to pursue its objective! As for Israel, this country has long been an ally of the US and it seems to be helping now the US to lead the whole affair to a war against Iran. It became know that Israel is not going to confine itself with Lebanon and will smoothly take the battle to Iran when the US will line up with Israel (I think that Rice's visit to Lebanon proves it all right). |

aspron,
Welcome to the board. The initial forum you posted this thread in was Latest World News. While you spoke of breaking news, and you are reasonably articulate, you'll need to post a link of the specific news event. Once the link is included, you're welcomed to offer your interpretation or opinion of the significance of the event. What you did was to post your opinion... which is fine. However, there's a forum for Opinions. It's here, in Political Opinions and Beliefs where I moved it. Feel free to continue posting. If in doubt, ask another moderator, or user you like in a Private Message about the established rules and procedures to use.
