If your 13 year old daughter was raped would you still want abortions to be outlawed?(This means your sweet daughter cannot have an abortion)

In case anybody's wondering, I'm practically neutral, and am always changing my mind on this. To me, it's the hardest decision.

I've always supported abortion for extreme cases such as rape and incest. There is no reason why exceptions could not be made for abortion laws. Therefore, I can't vote on your poll because you've made the choices too broad.

I understand what you guys are saying, but here's an interesting idea.

Just out of curiosity, what if I said that if you had a magic power in a magical universe that allows only you to change the law of abortion, but the catch is, you can only decide within thirty seconds. Fifteen seconds into your decision you find out your daughter was raped and pregnant. Three seconds left... which one do you choose? IS THIS A GOOD POLL?

rarely discuss abortion because I think it is a personal choice -that makes me pro-choice but I have no particular gripe with people who feel otherwise. I would not be displeased if it was a state decision but I feel sure that the zealots among us would not be satisfied until the entire planet is made to follow their position. I think that if a person is opposed to limited abortion rights, they must also be opposed to all forms of birth control other than barrier forms because they increase the likelihood that fertilized eggs will be eliminated. This includes the rythm method. Invitro must also be opposed. Men who reject the abortion option should therefore save themselves until marriage, or have their tubes tied until they are ready to reproduce. I believe there is also a pill for men. It makes much more sense for men to take responsibility for these things. It is less physiologically risky and men can have their tubes untied. So that's my message: guys, if you feel strongly about this than YOU take responsibility. Otherwise, keep your opinion to yourself.

My son is pretty innocent at 13. I would not expect a daughter of mine to be fertile at 13 though I guess it happens. I think it would be very traumatic for a 13 year old to go through these adult experiences.

Zoe, duly noted but I am free to express my opinion, sorry but I really want find this topic fascinating. I think I know what my mistake was. I just repeated myself from my original poll. Let me elaborate a bit more.

-I am trying to pose upon you a hypothetical situation, but I know many people have problems with that. (I don't know why)
-This poll is only if there was NO EXCEPTIONS yes or no abortion. I am saying this not because I have nothing else to do with my time, but I feel that if exceptions were made, people would always make exceptions. You know its true. So how would the poll be, with these spectacular additions? All feedback is appreciated.

There are more ways to take responsibility for it besides having my tubes tied or taking male birth control pills. How about taking responsibility for it by encouraging the girl to have the baby and being there to take care of it after it is born? Abortion is simply a way out of taking responsibility for your actions.

I've always believed that no one should have sex unless they are mentally ready to have and raise a child. I didn't have sex until I was 22; that's a fact, and I married that woman.

But recently, I've cared less and less about abortion. Everyone wants to be selfish and irresponsible. Fine. Go ahead. With all the other problems in the world, this one isn't even worth thinking about anymore.

Why? Just write up a law forbidding abortion, with only two exceptions- rape and incest. Do you really think every woman will start screaming rape every time they get an undesired pregnancy?

Two exceptions (or am I missing some other horrible situation which may lead to pregnancy?), that's it, period.
