I credit africanhope for coming up with the idea for this thread, by the way. Don't pick an actual person. Think of the worst platform you can imagine and envision your nightmare President- a hypothetical person. I don't care about a President's gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etcetera, so my nightmare President would be one with (to me) a nightmarish platform. I imagine someone who is pro-choice but otherwise socially conservative, wants to ban guns and tighten "national security" measures even more, favors running up the deficit to an even higher level to "stimulate" the economy, and who believes in nation building but still wants to work through the UN. Short of a fascist or totalitarian communist, that would be about the worst President I can imagine. Unfortunately, both Bush and Kerry answer much of the above description. I appreciate all replies. Thank you very much.

Of the realistic mainstream candidates, I would have to say Al Gore. I cant imagine anything much worse than that. Dean might come close.

That is a bit surprising coming from you. Gore is relatively hawkish by the standards of the Democratic Party and he supports the death penalty. Those are strikes against him in my book, but I thought that you would prefer him as President to an all-around bleeding heart.

I think my nightmare president would be a malignant narcissist with homicidal tendencies. In other words, someone like Nero Caesar.
His platform would be whatever the polls seem to favor.
