I realize that is in dispute and that is not part of my argument. I'm not arguing that it did pass and should be acknowledged, I'm just arguing that it would be a good idea.

LOL. It would be hard to characterize my form of government as a dictatorship since, if I had my way, I would repeal the income tax and all internal taxes, abolish the central bank and allow free market currency, repeal all prohibition laws and victimless crime laws, and make all government officials subject to impeachment with a mandatory sentence of life in prison if they violate their oaths of office or commit any crime.
Take a sedative and calm down.

You should also note that the amendment only failed BY ONE STATE HOUSE. That's as close as you can possibly get without actually passing. So a SUPER MAJORITY in Congress supported it and over TWO THIRDS of state legislatures supported it. If it's such an insane, crazy idea as you purport, why the broad support for it?

Oh, wait, I forgot; they're all corrupt, too. Quote:
[quoteIf the majority of office holders are lawyers - as has always been the case in the country, how do you perceive they'll ever cut down on the complexity of the legal system, since they've always profited from it?[/quote] Perhaps. But how does that justify taking away a voters' chosen representative? And how does having a Congress full of people who are entirely ignorant of the law improve matters? Quote:
Judicial immunity is not absolute. A judge that breaks the law can be impeached, and if the offense is criminal they can be tried and thrown in jail. All judicial immunity does is free a judge to consider the facts of the case, without fear that he'll face a lawsuit from an angry plaintiff. Allowing judges to be routinely sued for their decisions is a recipe for injustice. It would tie the legal system in knots and make judges cater to the most obnoxious participants. Show me specific cases of *abuse* that went unpunished and I'll support reforms. But judicial immunity is what helps insulate judges from extralegal influences, just like tenure is what protects academic freedom in universities. Quote:

What I said was that I could prove it BUT IT WOULD TAKE HOURS UPON HOURS - time that I'm not willing to spend just to placate you. The Judicial Accountability Initiative law is on the ballot in South Dakota in November. People are waking up to this issue, whether you like it or not. You can choose to remain asleep. Not like we could count on you, or any moderate, in a fight anyway...
