self interest, not greed...although the two overlap at times... the dudes fleeing Cuba on their inner tubes aren't doing it out of greed, they just want a chance...greed is needing a Maybach because it costs more than a Mercedes...self-interest is looking out for one's self or one's family...Now that is why socialism fails, among other reasons, it ignores that people do so...at least Adam Smith didn't try to create a system based on an alternate universe, rather he attempted to explain why people do what they do...big diff...

Question: have you ever even visited America? If not, than I would advise you to not be so quick to judge when you don't really know what it's like here. If so, than you are entitled to your opinion about America. I don't blame you, I really wouldn't want to live in any other country than the US.... no offense to any other countries.

Fair point, that would apply to a lot of people on this forum about other countries too don't you think. We are all guilty of wild generalisations.

However to be fair I can only judge on what I see and what I see I often don't like.

Been to a lot of places though, still think Oz is the best.

I think a lot of Americans bash France when they may have never even gone there (myself included). I'm sure it's a great country though. But so is America.

And yes, OZ must be quite a wonderful place. Especially the area with all those midgets.... cuz midgets rock!

There would be no U.S.A without France or Spain!!! So, France and Spain deserve credit for their assistance in the Revolutionary War. Yes communisms and socialism societies will fail when human creed is involved. Too much greed destroys communism, then you are not living in communism, you are living under a dictatorship.

Maybe someday we will all realize that no one kind of government is perfect. Utopia will never be achieved. And then we can all stop criticizing everyone elses form of gov't. Maybe we should split up the world into areas ruled by different forms of gov't then everyone can choose which ever one they want and we can all be happy.
