Dear Mr. Chavez:

Manuel Noriega was an outspoken Central-American leader who diss'ed America a few years ago. At first, we Americans thought it was just politics, but as he continued to loudly denounce his northern neighbor suddenly he found himself in an American prison.

How did he get there?

Well, it seems we Americans secretly sent troops into his country and grabbed him out from under his security people, dragged him back to America and put him on trial for actions against America.

Did you get that, Mr. Chavez?

Noriega was your puppet, you fool! He was on the CIA payroll from the 1950s until 1986; starting salary was $110,000 a year (a lot of money back then). Of course his drug trafficking was ignored while he played ball with the Christofascists in undermining the democratically expressed will of El Salvadoran and Nicaraguan people, and also giving shelter to one of their other favourite little demonic pets, the Shah of Iran.

But you dont remember any of that, do you? Panama Canal Treaty? Savak? Contras? The slaughtered American nuns? Archbishop Romero? The School of the Americas? Anything? Noriega was your best buddy through all of those humanising exploits.

Chavez, whatever else he is, is not your puppet.
