That's one of the spots where I disagree with general liberalism. In all fairness, however, taxes have to come from somewhere. I think the fair tax would work out better or something along that line.
But the idea that taxes sap people's innovation is unfounded. High taxes do not keep people from trying to make more money. The problem with them is that they can keep business owners from expanding and creating new jobs. The rest is just a fairness principle. You're naive if you think taxes make people lazy.

That is not and was never the purpose of welfare. Primarily people like this are right-wing strawmen constructed from anecdotal stories (mostly friend of a friend). I'm all for welfare reform, to make it well-targeted and to make it so that it helps people into work rather than keeping them out, as are moderate conservatives. However I don't think like you extremists that eliminating welfare will magically solve our problems... nor do I believe the mythology that most people helped by government aid do it because of laziness. Hopelessness is a bigger motivator for welfare. That is the problem to solve.

When has anyone defined laziness as a legitimate disability?

I'm not fond of minimum wage as it is pointless. But it really doesn't hurt much since most businesses already pay over the minimum wage.

Unions started off as a great thing in that without them working class people would be like slaves today. Today's unions though are useless bureaucracies that fight for unimportant perks and do nothing but screw businesses and charge workers. The government should not support or force down unions. They should allow skilled workers to organize and enforce contracts and stop violence. Other than that, they should stay out.
